SERIOUS INTEREST ONLY - contact me for all the details if you are seriously interested in a VERY fast Ty. I have a 92 Ty with a Jim Stokes Bow Tie Stroker - 600hp on pump gas, more on high octane with more boost. It runs easy 11's can run better with some fine tuning. It has been off the road for a while. Contact me if you have serious interest - otherwise, don't waste my time.

Last I heard, when he posted on the list several years ago, he did make a disappointing 11 second pass. Not what he was promised, but probably has some potential.

need more info on what it really is. jim stokes basically builds 1 engine. bowtie block, olivers, j&e's, moldex, l-35's, and he has sold short blocks for others to install and set up. there's a difference between a stokes ty and a stokes short block. If the seller doesn't have any dyno sheet info it's probably because jim never ran it and he is only quoting numbers that others have on jims engine. the guy has a strong motor but depending on turbo, ic, computer, and the way it's set up will depend on how it runs. lets not flame jim if it doesn't run the way people think. I bet it hasn't ever blown up though. this guy sure doesn't seem like my personality with comments like "don't waste my time". Brians right, it has a bunch of potential. other than that who know? hard to find out anything or talk about something that somebody says don't waste my time about. how many miles and how much does he want. what shape is it really in?

I bet the DFI has never really been tuned on that truck. The 600hp is crank horsepower. Mine with smaller turbo(70) put 499hp and 585ft/lbs to the ground with 20psi and 23 degrees timing. 24 psi put down 505hp but killed torque to 525ft/lbs. .96 a/r on exhaust.

My motor is the same as that list but with je pistons, oliver rods, and is .125 over.

My shit has been beat to death by me and others and it has not come apart yet.

I wouldn't trust Jim Strokes any further than I could throw him...trust me I speak from experience...I'd get some proof of what is actually in that truck, talk is cheap!!! I'd get first hand proof of ALL parts or I'd have the seller sign a contract that states EXACTLY what parts are in the motor, otherwise run...and let me head off all you haters because nobody wants to hear your opinion about how great Strokes motors are because I have one sitting in the corner of my garage collecting dust, in other words I'm not bashing him I'm just telling it like it is....sell shit and deal with the consequences...oh yeah I haven't forgot his buddy either :fist:

there's no doubt stokes knows whats up. Guy has some knowledge, and expirience. Whether he applies it or not can be left for someone else to judge. One thing I do know is it doesnt matter how much money you spend or what parts you have, if your tuneup isnt there it gets you nowhere. Seems like most of the motors stokes delivers come with a basic KB starter program and DFI. Les obviously has spent lots of time dialing in his combination, and tuning the truck constantly. I'm sure the truck didnt run anywhere close to 10.20 when he originally bought his so-called 750hp syclone.

If the truck is not beaten to death, i'm sure a knowledgeable tuner should be able to turn it into an impressive truck.

before I started it ran high 10.8. the dyno sheets I have on it, and there are many, list torque at 788 at 4k and hp at 687 at 24 pounds and on 104 gas. this was before I changed the heads and turned the boost up a little and did some other things and really started tuning. It's still running rich. I had the motor somewhat down when I did the heads and everything that is supposed to be in there seems to be. It will run right now 10.4 flat when i don't launch it too hard because I am trying to save the tranny. launch it a little harder and it will go 10.30. I know there is more in it , and when I get a cage, and that should happen in the next couple weeks, it will be easier to go and run it all the time and bring it out. we have a good time bracket racing and running 10.40 on a 10.40 dialin so we probably won't try to go much faster. anybody have any idea how much horsepower it takes to run 10.3 and 137 in one of these bricks? I haven't put it on a dyno since playing with it and probably won't. I have an awd one to do it on, but I hear it's hard on these things to do it and i really don't give a shit about horsepower as long as the times are there.

personally, I don't think I would touch this ty unless the price was right . too many grey areas and I agree with whoever said they weren't sure what exactly was on it. couple that with a seller that basically says don't bother me and that doesn't sound like any way to buy something. eveybody that I have ever talked to that has a stokes motor basically has the same build. It's there for the owner to bring it out.

there's a lot more to mine than just a motor

I remember that guy from way back in the day. He lived in Florida and went to school up in the northeast IIRC. He was one of the first I remember when a stokes built motor. His last post on the list a few years ago was about getting the truck updated and tuned better I think.

Initials were MM or something? Think his first name was Mark?

All of this was before the message board was even a thought in someone's mind...
