Small update.
Just got off the phone with my builder and we've decided to go with all Manley components on this first set of heads. They've got some extreme duty exhaust valves that will work well for us (we're sticking with stock size valves), and they also have a new alloy that they've incorporated in a line of retainers and keepers.
Valve springs will be beehive and will accomodate .580 lift. We'll use ARP rocker studs.
They'll be together in a couple of weeks then we'll take them up to the flow bench and see what we can do with them.

Should have pricing sometime next week on the parts/machining/assembly. Will take a bit longer to get pricing on the porting.

There is a shop in southern California called Speed-O-Motive, it has been in numerous magazine articles and they have a full machine shop and head porting facilities. They will put in new stock size valves and port your stock heads for $1,000.00 They say they pick up quite a bit of power because the stock heads flow very poorly. I don't know if that is a good price or not? Stock L-35 heads at my price is about $480. each brand new from GM, but I don't know if that comes with valves or bare heads.

Talked to my machinist on Friday... he's still busy finishing up 'race' motors so has left some of the smaller projects sit on the side. He said he'll get to the heads in the next couple of weeks. Sorry it's taking so long.

I kind of dropped the ball with my move out here to Oregon. I'll give the machinist a call and tell him to get a move on them - I've given him plenty of time to get his other stuff taken care of.

I'd like to.. I'll have to check out the date. I'll be moving our whole household out here come Spring/early Summer so i'll just have to see how it goes. It will either be three trips in a 27 foot uHaul, or hire a moving company. Plus I have to tow the Sy out. Turbo Thunder sounds like it could be a lot of fun!

If we get enough owners out there it is fun. If not, it's a lot of rice burners. I think last year it was the 2nd week in July. Look forward to getting together either way and brain picking. As far as moving goes, we had a moving company move us from AZ to WA, it was about $7500. It's a 1500 mile drive, so it didn't make sence for me to make several trips. If I had it to do over again, I would rent a 24' uhaul and tow trailer. Rental and fuel costs would have been about $2200.

I am using 1993 L35 heads (casting #14099064) and they checked at 64 CC with only a .005" clean up mill. Those heads make 9.8:1 on a .030" OS, 4.3L V6.. My engine has Speed Pro LF2256 flat top 4-valve relief pistons, . That is 1.4 too high for a turbo or nitrous, so those pistons would need.to be dished.
