I have had the crazy idea of getting a daily driver volvo again. First car I had was a 92 740 turbo wagon. Had tons of fun in that car. Anyway, I would wanna put the same awd/turbo v-6 setup on the wagon? Would the most practical way to do this be to put the body on a 4wd frame? I want to stick with the stock frame, but if I could have something that will handle well than it's not too bad. I would love a car like that, but if it's gonna cost more than a sweet sy/ty, forget it. The idea of the car would be to have a reliable daily driver that hauls ass and is a sleeper. Would probably take the car up to the snow. Anyone seen someone put an AWD setup into an old RWD wagon? Any suggestions on helping me create my twisted early 90's "Turbo R". Any help is appreciated. Thank you

Don't have any real suggestions for you. I have 0 familiarity with Volvo stuff.

But, I just happened across this guys swap page over at LS1Tech.com. Here's the linky:

Its only 2wd, but he's shooting for 500hp to start and 600 to 700 once things are sorted a bit. It ought to be fairly exciting.

not sure how hard the swap would be, but there's a lot of good volvo hardware out there... my dad's got a s60-R awd... it hauls pretty well

Is there any difference in the wheelbase? If so, it would be easier to lengthen or shorten the frame rather than cut the body.

(Hey Jjogensen52!!!) See, I'm not the only crazy one! :rotf:

By the end of the year, I hope to have a '95 black 850 Turbo wagon with 135k. I will run it into the ground (might take many years), then convert it to "something" if money allows. :screwy:
