Well, just to let all you guys know because this is very important. Apparently Syclones and Typhoons came factory with "The Camaro engine"...:roll: that little piece of trivia was overheard yesterday at a local car show where I had entered my Sy. Luckily there were quite a number of people that actually KNEW what it was and were pretty cool to talk to.

I do that all of the time. Will_in_Denver can vouch for that. I find its the best to say "isn't this one of those turbo buick powered trucks?"

When those type of people tell me what my truck is...I always agree with them. Its way more fun than having to explain what it is for the next half hour, and never realy getting the point across to them. Just adding to the mysteries of our trucks!

I walked out of a dealership when the salesman said that I am mistaken and that I in fact had a 4.3 supercharged engine in my Ty. Then he tells my buddy right in front of me that he pulled a motor out of a Ty last week and put it in his S10 pickup. I called him a dum**** and said he has no business selling cars.

People overestimate a 350. Wow, I got a 245 HP 350 from a pickup, thats gotta have more power than a lil v6! Some people are dumb, but I usually challenge them to bets involving money when they are soooo sure they know whats the deal with syty's

i went into a dealership looking into trading n my sy on a BMW and i told him i was asking 15 for it he said well i think we can get you 1500 i said no 15k he was like what its just a v6 jimmy i decided to walk away. and in class i get it all the time thats supercharged right? i blew off on someone yesterday and they procedded to ask me if it was supercharged? just think these are the technicians of tommorow. ahdhaha its just a 3.8 is what i get most often. or the morons saying they will race me in there mustang/camaro/various rice burner. i have learned just to agree.

while at autozone getting a heater core, i overheard pimpled the kid at the counter tell the other guy at the counter it was a supercharged V8. and that gmc made the syclone and the chevy made the typhoon.

i brought in an external wastegate looking for a fitting at autozone and the guy told me it was a piston, not a wastegate. I was so dumbfounded I didn't know what to say and left, like you said, its a total waste trying to explain things to them.

I have NEVER had anyone ask me if my truck was a "real" syclone before. Must be a "rest of the country thing" :lol: .

Yeah I got tired of hearing that it had a Corvette motor in it.. So I just decided to swap one in so I could say YES instead of having to explain it.. :tup:

I hear the GN motor a lot. I had one guy ask me if its real because he sees lot of fakes. :dunno: At the time, I wasn't aware of any Sy's real or fake in the area.

A couple times at the track, I have been complimented on how clean my turbo install is, it looks like a factory install :rotf:

i am not allowed to participate in the local cruise nights, because none of the organizors know what it is, or care what it is..

but, alas gns and 80s corvettes are welcome.

i approached the organizor and challenged him to a race, anywhere anytime, he laughed at my jimmy, so i showed him the gmc brochure, he still laughed said i'd never take him.. (he has a tubed hot rod with a sbc in it)

im going to try again this year, but im sure they will give me hell.

The only people that bust my ass about the truck are my close friends. They all know what they are, mostly due to me. So when they bust out the 3.8 jokes, I just say "and who's still the fastest one here?" :lol:

i've was denied a show one time at some idiot in charge didn't know what it was and said thats just a body kit on that thing. He was a total ass and literally walked away when i was explaining to him what it was. His punk 13 year old kid was right there and just laughed at me and walked away too. Not only is the guy an idiot, he's raising idiot jr. as well.

So far my favorates are "will that thing smoke the tires?" and "whats wrong with your blow off valve?" (has a K&N so it makes that dying horse noise out the intake)
