- GM just took the style of the Extreme and put it on that truck (wow, I didnt know GM was going back 13 years in design and remanufacturing this body style again)
- Do a burnout. Its AWD. So? Do a burnout.
- NO, you HAVE to run a CR43TS, the computer says it right here.. see? (various part auto part shops)
- I used to own one of the fastest Syclones
- My brother used to own a Typhoon
- My uncles brothers sister used to own the fastest Syclone in Ohio.

(my official count for sytys is: Syclones - 12,356 produced Typhoons - 28,765 produced. This is because most people who have seen my trucks, used to own one or knew a family member that owned one.)

- Only 50 where made of that color ya know....
- They stopped producing those trucks cause the Lightning was faster
- we cant work on that truck, somebody put a turbo on it.

Most of the time the guys around here are ether clueless or they know and appreciate our trucks. However there was this one guy I overheard telling his girl friend (she almost has a whole head of teeth) that it was an Xtrem want to be. Now that is dumb.

I've gotten the "I bet burnouts in that thing are fun." I might bring that on myself since I've laid black marks all over the parking lot at my office in both of my S10's. Tonight at the local cruise night I did have someone tell me that he beat his former boss's Ty off the line with his daily driver 5.2 Magnum Dakota. I can't wait until I actually bring the truck out some more now that the cruise nights have finally started.

I usually get only two responses. Either they just walk by not having any idea what they’re looking at or they’re excited ‘cuz they know what it is. The drags are always interesting when you show 'em a time slip and they wonder how the heck can a S15 can do that.

I can't wait until I actually bring the truck out some more now that the cruise nights have finally started.

That would be cool if they would allow cruise nights out here in Calif again, they shut them down saying it leads to street racing.

It gets really annoying trying to convince the guy at Autozone to sell me the right plugs, I try to avoid telling them what vehicle I have. You'd think it would be easier to buy things, never really heard of a salesman that had to be talked into selling stuff to you?

Local track owner said he's never seen anything like it out of the hole on street tires. :tup:

my school is full of morons. some of the people have heard of it/seen one/want one. but whats fun with them is i went to take my ASE tests today and i am in a room with about 1500 people i overhear..."hey thats the kid with the typhoon, man that thing will fly." no idea who these people are so i move on i sit down at my spot different guy asks.." thats your typhoon right? i hear those things are bad what you got done to it?" so some guys are ok. i went to the track 1 day after class and apparently the intire town now knows me i get yelled at and people say they saw/heard about me running and had to see the thing. i think its great. but ya theres lots of morons i prefer the ones at the car shows who walk right by my truck to the dime a dozen replica cobras or 75ish vettes saying man who brings a blazer to a cruise in and pops the hood its not that fast. i just grin and wait for the cool old guys to walk up and see it and freak out.

An exact dialogue from my local Autozone last week doing a tuneup.

"I'd like 6 NGK UR5 plugs, please."
"What kind of dirt bike they going into?"
"They're going into a truck."
"That low-rider blazer out there?"
"Yes, that's the one."
"Man, I don't get it. Kids around here have their cars lowered, then a month back, I saw a lowered truck, now all I see are lowered trucks. I've see 6 of 7 exactly like yours."

To be honest, I feel pretty lucky in not having to deal with idiots yet. The 4 or 5 people I've seen who asked me about it all either full out knew what a Typhoon. The people that don't know what it is all seem to ask about it instead of making dumb assumptions; i.e., "I've never seen a Jimmy that looks like that." instead of, "Where'd you get that body kit?"

i was being helped by a girl at advance once. the usual convo: what year. what make. what model? 1992. gmc. we were fine until i said typhoon. well i guess she has never had to scroll down that far on the screen so she got all confused. i had to reach over and press the down arrow on the keyboard for her.
thats why i just bring part numbers.

Oh man!!! That is soooo embarassing. That happend to me my first time at the track last year. When I took off, I just heard exhaust, looked in the rear view and Im sure I was glowing red. The guy at the slip booth was like, "the guys in the tower told us to make sure you keep your hatch shut if you can". I felt like a total ass. I had popped it when I got there to put some stuff in the back and never did and just forgot about it.

I guess I'm lucky to have a local private parts store with some good guys in it. The only question he asked me when he asked what I was getting when I said a Syclone was "why". I said cause I've always wanted one. He said thats nice and not alot of people are into fast trucks. But he knows what they are.

I just cant wait until I go into the local autozone or discount and ask them for something, and the 65 year old man behind the counter doesnt know anything. Most of the younger, american made car nuts around here at least know from my friends what's what. Now the ricer kids that work at those places, I could have my Camaro, and every single one of them would go "Is that a 5 speed" Yup, its the rare t-56 5 speed..

A lot of people that I worked with didn't believe me when I said my old Trans Am had a 6 speed manual.

Some people are convinced that the 6 speed plaque or whatever was installed for looks.

I've given up on talking to people unless they show some major prior knowledge about the trucks.

My trick is to park, open the hood and disappear before anyone knows it's mine. Then I hang back and laugh at the dumbass coments instead of arguing with some pinhead who knows squat.

I've heard most of those....but a few of my favs are....

That's a hot V8..no it's a V6...no it isn't its a V8 Blazer...ahhh no it's a V6...no it's not...OK I'll open the hood....see I told you its a V8....OK then why is there only 3 header tubes on each side??? Ahhhh I got a blazer with a hot V8 350 do you want to buy it??? No thanks I'll keep my crappy V6.
