Re: Got wb finally, tuning issues

I guess I would double check that the grey WB wire from the PLX is connected to F14 properly (make sure its actually pin F14).

If the wideband is connected, you will see the A/F in these boxes (the same A/F in both). Right now, yours is just reading 10.0 all the time, since that's the lowest reading if it's not connected.

Re: Got wb finally, tuning issues

ok digged into it today, had the grey wire on e14 instead of f14.. once i did that i got the wideband reading..
heres the normal run driving..

and heres wot, i still cant launch worth crap with the new setup even though ive seen people with same covertor hold boost pretty easily. Also at the end of the run where everything cuts out, i glanced at the laptop quick and noticed it lost connection or pcm reading.. it seems the computer or something doesnt like when i hit 4th gear around that speed wot.

Re: Got wb finally, tuning issues

Ok, good. Got the WB signal now.
It looks like still no narrowband signal. Pin E14 is actually the narrowband O2 signal. Do you still have the stock O2 in there, or do you have the wideband sensor in it's place?
If you want, on your Velosyty memcal, you can turn on dip switch 4, which will then convert the WB signal into a narrowband (see chip instructions). That should allow it to operate in closed loop. That should help the a/f's during normal driving.

no stock 02, just the wb sensor in its place.. and ill give that a shot eric with the switch 4..

i did notice at idle my wb reads around 12ish now solid compared to 18ish sometimes and where ever else.. but why would the truck bog everytime in 4th gear and feel like the truck hit a brick wall?

btw thanks for the super quick reply!!!

Not sure about the 4th gear thing. I guess see if you can catch it on a log somehow.

Re: Got wb finally, tuning issues

could not having a capacitor between the wires cause the problem???

Re: Got wb finally, tuning issues

The capacitor is only there to help clean up a noisy WB signal. It won't cause your cutting out issue.

Re: Got wb finally, tuning issues

If I get the truck in closed loop and it looks alright.. Should I start playing with timing and boost till I start getting knock? I'm still on 93oct with no meth

Re: Got wb finally, tuning issues

flipped switch, my idle and just normal driving improved majorly!!! also idle my rpms stay at 750 solid so thanks for the tip eric.. heres the run

now my question is, how am i still in stock ty 1/4 times with how its currently running and mods?? is my convertor really killing my times? Or do i still have issues elsewhere?

Re: Got wb finally, tuning issues

So just driving around town a bit last night, I figured I'd check the stall on the tc since obviously the trucks slower then it's supposed to be.. I get going a bit from a stop, not letting it shift to second, let off the gas and get back on it and truck hits at 1800rpm... I did this numerous times and every time still 1800.... So... I have a smaller then stock tc in the truck...

Why not just hold your foot on the brake at a stop and give it gas like you are going to launch.. That will tell you your stall.. I'd try that and see what you get.. I'm running a stock 60e with a stock converter from a 93 Jimmy and I can stall it at like 2650...

I think last time I did that it was around 1500-1600 it started pushing if that.. Ever since I got the new turbo setup I can't hold a launch at all?.
Also I know this isn't a stock convertor, it's blue.. Im curious if old owner was cheap and threw in cheapest tc he could get just to get by not caring about the stall

Re: Got wb finally, tuning issues

A PTE54 is way to big for a stock stall converter. It sounds like you probably has your transmission rebuilt and some one stuck in regular s-10 1400rpm stall converter.

That's what I'm thinkin to.. I haven't had the trans out yet.. Trans shifts fine at least.. I'm hoping the tc is my headach for horrible times

Also you should not be pushing through the brakes if you rev the engine in neutral to build vacuum in the brakes before brake torque the motor. It could mean the brakes need some work of have air in the lines.

Jesse the Truck did have the Trans Replaced. I bet your hunch is right probably through in a cheap s10 TC. Wasn't Me though :)

I only roll threw breaks when I start hitting any boost. With old turbo I could hold 15psi all day and not roll.. I didn't start catching this issue till I got new turbo and couldn't hold. Not to mention even when I first got it and installed the Tt chip my times were to slow.. With my motor running good how it is with good af and no knock, that's when I started leaning in more towards what's going on in the trans and tc.. I know tc make a good amount difference in times, but if this is the problem with being to small of stall, im curious how much better the truck will feel with correct one '2800-3200'
