I imagine, I just don't know it. After everything you've been through why not just send them out or exchange them with Eric.

what kind of voltage does the ecm show on datamaster ? just thinking that maybe an ecm voltage mod may help out .

If i recall, it's always above 13.7.. I haven't seen logs for a while but that's From memory.. And ive never heard of the ECM voltage mod before.

I haven't touched the Ty for a few days just trying to get a fresh start at it again tonight.. By chance, could this be a electrical issue maybe a ground? Maybe a wire coming loose somewhere out of the connector itself? I've checked the wiring at the dist and it looked solid but I know that doesn't mean much. I'm just trying to open up the ideas here on what could e the problem.

Re: help with the quest for 11's

Jesse, I know this is a long shot in the dark but as I think about it I thought my self it could be a wire issue.

I was having nothing but trouble with my truck after a very healthy and strong engine build.

To my demise after throwing everything I could at it, Turned out it was the main power harness from the battery to around back side of engine which rests or hovers over the transmission case.

Everyone claims the purple wire episode... Try to see if you can inspect your main power harness which is tucked on passanger side by the manifolds and trans case. You may not even be able to see because the wire actually rests the side that wears- faced to the case. Follow?

I had so many issues... I decided to just dis-assemble my truck. In doing that, I found the wire which was clearly worn through from high torque load/launch. Ever see how guys buff dress shoes? The wire was doing the exact thing the shoe shiners do to get a nice shine on shoes.. but this was a positive 12v power wire back feeding the whole system.

Re: help with the quest for 11's

I have a picture on my cellphone which depicts the damage well. I chased my tail in circles trying to nail down the problem. It came to a point in time where I had destroyed my trans attempting to get some boost, on top of other issues that arose. My truck smoked black soot out and coated the underside of my truck like a creasote fire happend. After tweaking almost everything under the hood there were some areas not addressed or able to be seen or accessed.

My issue has nothing to do with heat or heat off the manifold causing the casing to melt or cook off.

My best guess is with a mount or 2 weakend like a trans mount, or cooked passanger engine mount? there will be some movment. (probably why guys use the engine chain? or I have seen ratchet straps or turnbuckles and what not).

To me it is just over the top I went "through all that replacing" to discover a wire exposed.

Again this is just a thought, something to look at. It very well may not be the cause but some where down the line you never know a wire may have rubbed. The only way I discovered my electrical issue was when I prepared to move my truck the night before I saw sparks under the dash from a boost signal line and right than and there I knew there was issuses. Key was not even in the truck. This is one of them things that I strongly believe can take a truck by fire.

Re: help with the quest for 11's

Great thanks for advice, I really don't want a fire especially with everything i have parked in the garage. I also have a couple fire extinguishers just in case:) I'll be sure to check that wiring out tonight..

Also, besides the ground strap that connects motor to chasis, isnt there another ground somewhere on the intake? I did paint the intake over winter and wondering if I didn't clean a ground up and it's giving me hit and miss issues

Re: help with the quest for 11's

so i think im on to something here.. i looked at previous logs since this has happened mainly looking at volts.. almost every time the hesitation kicks in, which is when i get knock, my volts drop from 14v down to 13.3v and i seen in one run down to even 12.7v.. but soon as i let out, my volts go back up. heres some videos again, should be able to clearly hear hesitation

Re: help with the quest for 11's

as of right now.. ITS FIXED!!!

i was checking wires while the motor was running, and i got shocked by the coil to cap wire.. so i just replaced the already new wires i just put on.. sure enough instantly on a low boost run if felt stronger.. let the boost run up to 18 and got a slight slight hesitation, so then remembered my gap was at .032... i just put it down to .026 and ran it, 18psi is solid, drove it around town for a while.. still ran great.. so a brand new set of wires out of the box was the problem it seems..

Good grief that was an irritating issue. You going to put the alky back in and run it again?

yea tell me about it.. i even ohmed the wires when i got them and didnt show anything wrong.. but wow..

gonna get the msd back to hooked up first.. then if all goes well the alky will be going back on.. cant wait to actually tell the difference with it

Re: help with the quest for 11's

working on getting this meth kit installed and got a question.. recently i switched to a2a.. where is the best location for the jet now?? i have a 90 off the tb to the hardpipe.. should i get it close as i can on the hardpipe to the silicon 90?? or mount it in the silicon 90 or.....?

Mount it on the hardpipe. You'll be fighting boost leaks if you try the silicon.

Supposedly, IIRC, the Devils own forum I remember reading about nozzle placement,,, if you mount the nozzle farther away from the TB, the better/more power it could possibly make. It will cool down the intake pipes further & have more time for the air & alky to mix together.

Re: help with the quest for 11's

As you have discovered ohming the wires is not a foolproof check. Big difference between 1 volt or whatever the ohm meter sends and 50k from the coil.

Glad it running.

Me to don, was a pita battle but atleast it was something simple, was just trying to find it was the hard part.
