Coming along nicely !!! It doesn't hurt to take a break and take your time so you just do it right the first time, and don't have any regrets :D

didn't get to the front clip, just the radiator support...again, excuse the blue valve covers..they're just there to keep some of the dust out...change of plans...kb headers came out and i mocked up a stock manifold....did the 3" downpipe tonight...cut and tacked it into place...it cleared with flying colors...tomorrow i'll take it to my buddy's shop and tigweld it...glad this is out of the way...not bad for $29.00 plus a little work and thought....

ahhh just drive it like that! Less weight :D

did you say weight? hell, i wouldnt be suprised one bit if this truck lost hundreds of pounds since i aquired it...i guess now would be a good time to post pics of what my truck really looked like when i rescued it...very few people here have seen these pics...the roll bar was made out of heavy gauge oil field pipe.... the old owner claimed it had around 700hp...not...this truck was the Kenne Bell poster child...even had the kaboom chip in the ecm...you see what i mean by "alot of work"...restoring the bed alone, on this truck, was as involved as repainting your average complete vehicle...i'll sure be a happy man when or if this thing is done...

Mow that I see old pics, I kinda like it how it was before you molested it. :p
But seriously, you have taken that truck to a whole new level from where it was before. So have you fired up the new motor yet.

i am so close to firing this thing up...i spent almost two hours last night priming the motor with a dewalt, plug in drill...i have too much time and money into this to start cutting corners now...this is a 4.3 marine block...we would run the drill for about 15 minutes or until the drill started to smell like it was burning up, then rotated the motor by hand about 1/3 turn...then prime again till the drill again was too hot to touch, turn the motor over again ~1/3, then primed again, and again and again until the drill died...the oilpump has alot of resistance when its working...found a major oil leak...i had forgotten to put in a o-ring on the block, filter adapter...so i put the o-ring in...while priming the motor with a drill, you can actually feel the oil filter pulsating as oil circulates throughout your motor...really cool...tonight, im replacing the oil filter...i imagine the new filter i primed with caught any bullshit that may have been swimming around in there...i plan on dissecting the flush filter tonight to see whats in there...worked on shimming the cvr...she preffered one of the two shims...spent two complete nights (monday and tuesday night) dissecting the underhood harness and replacing questionable wires...soldering, soldering, heat shrinking, soldering, heat shrinking, relooming everything with new loom...all fluids are in it, even powersteering and brake...new heatercore in last night and plumbed up as well... radiator topped off...sparkplugs in...i have worked on this thing till 2 am every weekday since i got my cometic headgaskets in a few weeks ago...turbo in, hopefully for good, downpipe welded up and in...getting closer...i modded two 749 ecm's with new mosfets to be able to run 72lb injectors...probably could have fired it up by now but i don't want to rush it...huryde's site was a lifesaver for the wiring repairs and upgrades i did... 0X :whew:

Servando saved this Sy from the scrap heap. ::brews::

whats funny is that ATR and KB actually convinced the previous owners that if they bought their bolt ons, the truck would run an 8 second quarter mile, so they dressed the truck up accordingly...i asked about the auxillary radiator in the back, and they said it has problems keeping cool because the motor is "hopped up"...then when i removed the thermostat housing, i found a big blue washer with a hole in it used to restrict water flow....no thermostat, just a major blockage...weird, but its hopefully getting a new lease on life...

WOW! Incredible work, and great save! My project gets restarted this weekend, I'll find out if the block is good or not. Why did you go with the marine block?

thanks for the compliment...the previous owners said they replaced more than one motor in this truck during the kenne bell syty era...when i pulled the engine, i took down the casting numbers and ran a google search and everything pointed to mercruiser and marine blocks according to the search results...so i just kept it...also didn't hurt that the previous owners 4-bolted the block as well...it also has a balance shaft in it...IIRC it's a 1994 or 1995 block...there's a member of this board that has a marine block in his garage with a spun bearing that will sell it cheap by the way...he offered me his crank when i was looking for one...

wow....she started...talk about alot of loose ends...got them all squared away and fired her up after major primage the night before...my goal was to crank the engine, start it then maintain 2000 rpm for fifteen minutes before shutdown...all was monitored and recorded by turbolink...all went as planned...at first, the temp rose to 182 with a 160 thermostat...i then shut her down, then changed the oil and filter...then fired her up again...all the time with no dashboard intalled...i then topped of the cooling system and made up a coolant resevoir for round two of the engine running...she ran great and settled on a coolant temp of 168 average for another 15 minutes...this engine sounds like the devil...i'm f'n exited that it didn't come unglued for around 80,000 revolutions that it ran...lets hope for the best...i disected the first oil filter and found alot of pearly material on the catch side...now it fires up with just a turn of the key... really bitchin to hear this thing run...i used the stock injectors and ecm from my ty for this run session tonight...

here's a pic or two of an underhood turbolink screenshot...if you look close enough you'll see some idle on the left big gauge...
