make sure its an AC delco. to change you will need to remove the cap and rotor and you should be able to see the ignition module at the base of the dist. it has two electrical connectors. remove with 6mm socket and when you install the new module coat the shiny metal side with the supplied silicone, this is to keep heat away from the module. if you have any questions, let me know and maybe next week i can help you, but since you sound like you know what your doing, this should be a piece of cake. dId the module and still the same. When I let it idle for a while and rev it up it blows Grey/white smoke (startup smoke) At 1500 rpm I can hear the engine studder every second or so. I give up. I love my sy but I cant drive it so I think I will sell it. This was fun but It just aint worth the headach and all the cash. Anyone want a Sy??

sorry, bro. it could be rings, maybe a small leaks in the headgasket, is your oil clean?

Like a compression test in reverse. Air is put into the cyl. I never heard of it on a automobile eng (til I came here) only aircraft. Never actually done it. But been there when it's been done to an aircraft. Curious how our engines are held at TDC for each cyl. Google "leak down test" for a bunch more info.

you just gotta find TDC for each cylinder with a piston stop, kinda time consuming but it could be worth it

Ok I pulled out each plug and regapped to .034. Thats what I had before someone told me to gap to .032. I noticed plug 4 was black. All over verry black. It was a dry black not wet. Put in a new plug and ran the truck. took longer this time to miss but it did. not as bad. After about 20 min I pulled the plug again. It had a brown coating on it I wipped it off and it turned clean again. The plug was bad after only 5 -10 miles. ??? the #6 plug looked a bit black too. Not as much.

Well I'd say, for some reason, that cyl is running rich or it's oil fouled. Have you swapped inj's yet? if so and it didn't follow then it might be oil which would indicate a broken ring or very bad guides. Which brings us back to the leakdown test.
